"North Cove Marina & The Wintergarden Atrium"
September 11, 2007
I submitted seven images to another juried show this morning, this one in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Today's photo is the only one of those that has not yet been posted here as Picture of the Day. If any of my entries are selected for the show, I probably won't be flying to Minnesota for the Opening Night Reception. But by that time I'll have attended at least one opening, this coming Friday night in Huntington, NY, which is a lot closer to home.
At least twice now, in 2007 and again in 2009, I've been down at the site of The World Trade Center, for the annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony news coverage - both times for Fox 5 TV in NY. I was also down there twice, in November of 2001 and again in spring of 2002. The first time was for a segment of CBS' news magazine 48 Hours.
The second time, we were there taping Robert De Niro's wraparound segments, for the Naudet brothers film 9/11, which aired on CBS in March of 2002. We shot first at Washington Market Park, which is four blocks north of the WTC. Later that same night, we relocated to the FDNY 10/10 firehouse, which is on Liberty Street, immediately south of Ground Zero. Nowadays it's right next door to the Tribute WTC Visitor Center, which was originally a delicatessen.
