"Portraits and Profiles"
While this is the sixth photo in this series, I'm envisioning it as the centerpiece of a triptych, with yesterday's Picture of the Day - Vanderbilt Mansion Rear Portico #1 (which will most likely be renamed Portraits and Profiles - Right at some point) being hung to its right. Similarly, tomorrow's post would ideally hang to its left. Here's a sneak preview of it: Vanderbilt Mansion Rear Portico #2.
This pedestal, and the large urn it supports, is one of four on Vanderbilt's western-facing rear portico. They are all identical, as far as I can remember; and they look out towards the Hudson River, from its eastern bank, and the distant Catskill Mountains.
