10/31/13 - "Our Home, before Sandy"

Our Home, before Sandy

A photo of our house barge before its' forced relocation by Hurricane Sandy this week. It is now resting (uncomfortably, and freakishly out of place) on the asphalt of Ocean Avenue in Seaford, NY - about where the red arrow is on the Google Maps satellite photo below: This is approximately 200 feet northwest of its former location in the bay.

I'm unsure of how, when or even if it will be returned to its previous mooring.

This photo was shot from Alhambra Marine Services and Four Corner Marina, which was a mere 100' away - on a foggy, early Sunday morning in late May of 2011.

Post Script - 7/12/13: Our home was sadly, yet legally destroyed by the marina owners on May 2, 2013 - after we were unable to sell it, and could not afford to repair and relocate it to a much-less-desirable marina location nearby.
