This osprey nest, which is located somewhere to the right of the bayhouse in this Google Map, is one of many in the area. I've lived my entire life within about 25 miles of here; and, up until the last 15 years or so, I'd never seen an osprey in the wild before.
They are one of the largest birds of prey in North America, and they eat fish almost exclusively. They are some of the most widely spread birds in the world, and I'm extremely glad to see them return each summer.
