I captured this still life, which is cropped from a slightly larger image, while waiting for dinner to arrive Saturday night - Sally's and my first night in New Hampshire. We were staying overnight at the home of Sally's sister Holly and her fiance Dave, in the little town of Hollis, and Dave was a most gracious and beneficent host! Unfortunately, Holly was away and couldn't join us, but Dave gave us a tour of Nahsua, NH and took us to dinner at an exquisite dining establishment called Unums, where we enjoyed a most excellent meal.
On Sunday, after a hearty and delicious breakfast with Dave - and a very young friend of his named Danny - in the small town of Milford, Sally and I first traveled to Monadnock State Park. There we met up with a friend of ours, Floyd, who is also a former Farmingdale High School alumnus and band member. Neither Sally or I had seen Floyd in over 30 years! It was great to reconnect with an old friend, whom I had last seen in 1977, post-high school, when we both played in a brass quintet.
After leaving Monadnock we drove about two hours north to Woodsville, NH where we are staying in a small cottage, at Twin River Campground and Cottages. Yesterday we drove from Woodsville to Bath; then to Dartmouth College and, finally, to the Flume Gorge and visitor center at Franconia Notch State Park, in Lincoln.
