The view from just outside and to the southeast of the Sherman Adams Summit Building, looking dead north, atop the peak of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. Opened in 1980, this building houses a cafeteria, Post Office, gift shop and Park Ranger office - as well as public restrooms and a pack room for hikers, where they can take a long break before continuing on. The private, member-supported Mount Washington Observatory is also located within this same, large, reinforced concrete structure.
