It was morning on the Fourth of July this past summer, and the parking lots of Bear Mountain State Park were already full to capacity. But for a little while, at least, this ride attendant at the Merry-Go-Round - which features hand painted scenes of the park and 42 hand carved seats of native animals (including black bear, wild turkey, deer, skunk, raccoon, fox, Canada goose, swan, bobcat and rabbit) - had a few moments of peace and quiet.
