4/21/12 - "Dieu et mon Droit"

Dieu et mon Droit
Fine Art Prints and Art Gifts.

This translates from the French expression as 'God and my right' and can be found - in Manhattan - at 622 Fifth Avenue, on the eastern facade of The British Empire Building in Rockefeller Center. The artwork itself is titled "Industries of the British Empire" and was created in 1933 by Carl Paul Jennewein - an American artist who was born in Germany.

Harry Nilsson, an American singer/songwriter from the '70's, had a 1975 album entitled "Duit on Mon Dei" (Do it on Monday), which is wordplay on this British slogan. Nilsson originally wanted to call this 11th album of his "God's Greatest Hits" - but RCA didn't approve.
