Phasmida
Phasmida - stick and leaf insects, known as walking sticks and walking leaves in the U.S. (of which there are approximately 3,000 species) - thrive in forests and grasslands, where they feed on leaves. Mainly nocturnal creatures, they spend much of their day motionless, hidden under plants.
I found this one on my back deck last fall, while raking leaves.
