Atop Chimney Rock
Sally and I at the top of Chimney Rock in North Carolina, with Lake Lure to our right. The first time I was here, back in 2006, the elevator to the top was still operable. At that time, their 26-story elevator made the ride to Chimney level in a mere 35 seconds. Today it's more like an hour's uphill climb.
