Pochuck Creek Bridge
This 146-foot-long suspension bridge was completed in 1996, at a cost of $30,000, not including thousands of volunteer hours. Because of changing water levels in the area, the bridge essentially "floats." The walkway is 14 feet high, which is five feet above the 100-year flood level, and should permit the bridge to withstand floods that send logs and debris down the creek. It's located 1.6 miles northwest of NJ Route 94, which is also known as Vernon/Warwick Road. This is the longest stretch of the AT that Sally and I have hiked together - a 4.6 mile round trip of mostly level hiking on trails and boardwalks.
