Fingerboard Shelter
An early autumn look at Fingerboard Shelter.
"Fingerboard shelter is located along the Appalachian Trail in Harriman State Park, NY. The shelter itself has lots of graffiti on the inside and is well used. There are two fireplaces on the sides of the shelter, but usually have leftover trash from previous visitors. Although the shelter itself is not the most inviting shelter, the area that the shelter is located in is great. The surrounding area has a ton of great tenting areas and there is a natural spring, which is usually running unless it's late in the season. If the spring is not running, you can head down to the lake which is a quarter to a half a mile hike. There is no privy at this shelter so be prepared to dig a hole and lean against a tree."
