"New Moon Flood Tide"

The view of my backyard this morning.

Home, for my girlfriend Sally and I, is a large house-barge in Seaford, NY. One of the best features is the view out our back doors, which are twin Andersen, 5' wide, sliding glass doors. I had these installed, along with a new roof, vinyl siding, and 28 new windows (to replace, re-locate and supplement the existing windows) two years ago. Along with a Jacuzzi tub in an added master bath, and a new Osburn wood-burning stove in the living room, these improvements consumed most of the equity I received from the sale of the second (and last)  house my ex-wife and I had owned.

I took this picture while standing on our deck, which is just outside the sliding glass doors. Our view is to the southeast, where we can see the outdoor dining tent at Tobay Beach and the houses of Gilgo West; but we can also see Jones Beach to the west and the Fire Island Lighthouse flashing in the night to the east.

In late spring of last year I bought my first-ever boat - a small, second-hand, Boston Whaler center console. Having lived on the water for a year and a half, watching boats go by at all hours of the day and night, I couldn't wait any longer to become a boat owner. I had been debating whether to get a new digital SLR or a boat for a while, but eventually decided to purchase the boat first: The SLR had to wait 'til this year.
