12/06/10 - "Overhead Raindrops"

"Overhead Raindrops"

It was my fourth day with my new camera, and the first time I took it to work with me. I was still figuring out how to operate all of the functions on the camera, at this point. I stepped outside 30 Rock at one point, underneath an overhang on Sixth Avenue, and shot 6 pictures. This image was the 5th of 6.

It had been raining lightly most of the day, and I was captivated by the contrasting blacks and whites of the bubbles against the split background; the black bulk of 30 Rock, and the light gray/white sky. This is not a black and white photo; it was merely a black and white day. It is a full-color picture, but one where no hues existed - just the shadings of the grayscale.
