"Sub-Arctic/Pseudo-Tropical Abstraction"
Fine Art Prints This photograph is from inside the semi-tropical clime - by the indoor pool and spa of the motel we were staying in a week ago - in Fairfield, Iowa. Outside the temperature was about five degrees Fahrenheit; but from inside this pseudo-tropical room, the condensation formed a multi-faceted, nearly kaleidoscopic abstraction of this view of U.S. Route 34.

          This very same motel is where Sally Ann and I spent our very first night together - 1 year, 2 months, 3 weeks and 4 days ago: It was a magical first meeting, in the physical realm; but it was as if we were two halves of the same soul, reuniting - for the very first time. While our lives had been intersecting, ever since the 5th grade, that night was the first time we'd ever formally met face to face. I'll never, ever forget.

           Coincidentally, today is the one year anniversary of my second trip to Iowa - a trip whose main purpose was to help move Sally Ann back to New York. Before finishing packing and starting the drive to New York, we spent two days in Winterset, Iowa - in Madison County. We visited, and I photographed, the 6 remaining (of the original 19) covered bridges there; three of these were featured in the movie "The Bridges of Madison County, starring Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood. During our night's stay in Winterset, we were able to borrow a DVD of the movie, which we watched together on my laptop.

          On Monday I'll start posting pictures from that trip, as Picture's of the Day; but for now, I want to finish posting images of our first return to Fairfield.

"Sinclair"
A sign from long ago, in the small town of Libertyville, Iowa; a relic from another age. At least I thought they were relics. Seems like they're still around, just not in the New York area.
