"Stalacticles"
As if they were stalactites on steroids, hanging from the eave of my roof - just outside my bedroom window - these icicles have grown noticeably longer each day. I was chagrined the other morning, when much more diminutive versions fell from outside my kitchen window, before I was awake enough to capture their likeness with my camera. Those partly cloudy blue skies soon turned overcast, though; within a couple of hours the whole tenor of the days' atmosphere turned from bright and sunny to cloudy and colder. By yesterday evening snow showers had returned yet again.
This next image is similar, and it's of some of the same icicles; it's for those of you - especially my Sally - who prefer portraits, i.e. verticals, as opposed to landscape or horizontal framing.
"Stalacticles 2"
This is a view of the east side of my house barge, while it was being re-sided two years ago. Through the window directly under the flue pipe for my oil burner (the pipe the seagull is resting on, while basking in the early morning sun) is where I shot these icicle images - just in case you were wondering.
That's all for today. I still have well over 100 images to look through, and there's a strong possibility that you may see one or more of them over the ensuing couple of days. I'm also going to append a second photo to yesterday's blog. If you're curious, please check it out. While I feel it's a strong enough image to stand on its own as a future "Picture of the Day" I think it's too similar to yesterday's to post it separately. You be the judge.
