1/29/11 - "Icicles, Bay and Sky"

"Icicles, Bay and Sky"

The view from my bedroom window this morning. I shot a boat-load of photos of this scene - almost 200 - and this is one of the best. It's also the first shot I took. Sometimes the first take is a keeper. There are a couple more very good images which will probably make appearances here, over the next few days.

There's also yet another big-snow in the forecast for Wednesday, here in New York: Seems like we're really in the cross-hairs this year. It's snowing right now; and if we get just one more inch, we'll break the record for January. C'mon, snow - let's do it!

"Icicles, Pilings and Park"

The icicles are a few more from the same window. The pilings belong to two of my land-bound neighbors; and, on the extreme left of the frame, to Alhambra Marine - aka Four Corners Marina. The park on the horizon is Seaman's Neck Park, neatly dividing the picture in half.

This photo is of the east side of my house barge which, two years ago, was undergoing re-siding. The window I used as my photo-blind is the center one, directly under the flue pipe for my oil burner - the pipe that the seagull is resting on, while basking in the early morning sun, at the very top of the image.
