Picture of the Day: 2/18/11 - "Sunrise

"Sunrise - August 7th, 2010"

I was originally going to post this picture on Tuesday - after receiving some great, good news on Monday night - but I had already delayed the image I was going to post Monday ("Out From The Fog") when I decided to post the digital artwork "My Healing Heart" instead, in homage to Valentine's Day. So there you go.

The good news is that there's going to be a first-ever gallery exhibition of some of my best photographs, starting on March 4th and running through March 27th! I'm very excited, as this is one of those "next steps" I've been waiting to take. It's a small step, as there are only going to be 7 small prints shown (which I had sent more or less on spec, not really intending for them to be put on display) and it's in a small city in the mid-west, but it's a step nonetheless. I've added a link to the top of my blog for the gallery where this is taking place, Flying Leap Art Space, which will have relevant information - for those of you who may be interested in attending. The site is only updated for each new show, and also for each months' new art classes, but please do check it out. It's an eclectic gallery, in a delightfully different kind of space.

Regardless of the reception this first gallery showing receives, it lends much impetus to my pursuit of more gallery exhibits - preferably somewhat closer to home, and with more and larger prints. I will most definitely be posting any reports of how well this first showing does - or does not.

Today's picture is yet another sunrise photo, shot from the back deck of my house barge.While I've photographed many sunrises since moving here three years ago, it still amazes me how each one can be so different.
