"Fog Descends"
After getting about an inch of snow Tuesday, the precipitation changed - first to sleet and freezing rain, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, and then to just plain rain later on. Shortly after I woke up, the rain suddenly stopped and the winds became calm. That is when the fog descended from above.
Aside from meteorlogical fog - of which there are at least 10 different named types - there are others forms that exist too - at least linguistically. Most infamously, perhaps, is the fog of war.
Medically, there is brain fog, which - I was surprised to learn (although maybe I shouldn't have been) - is extremely common! There are many different causes of brain fog, ranging from metal and bowel toxicity to pharmacological interactions and psychological reasons.
Tuesday morning I was in a bit of a mental fog myself, from a combination of sleep deprivation the previous two nights and the news of the untimely demise of a dear friend. So the fog that formed outside was a mirror to my own internal fog.
Fortunately, both fogs lifted - the fog outside shortly after its arrival, and my mental fog anon.
