"Bevier-Elting House - New Paltz, NY #2"

The door and lower window of this western facade are believed to be original, while the upper window was originally a mow door (rhymes with cow, not low), which is used to load hay into the upper floor of a barn. From there, bales would be thrown down through a hatch in the floor, and then cut open and fed to cattle.

Today's picture is the second in a series of three I'll be posting here, followed by one of what's now known as Walloon Church. The gravestones there date back to the 1600's, while the church is a replica of one built by the Huguenots, during the early 1700's.

With the posting of that photo on Wednesday, that will wrap up this series of five images of historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz, NY. All five images have been submitted for a Juried Exhibition at Mill Street Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY. Hopefully, at least one will be selected for inclusion in the show, which runs from May 21st through July 15th.
