"Still Waters and Starry Lights"
Due to a 30 second time exposure, this portion of bay water - which is rarely ever completely still, owing to strong tidal currents, and frequent boat traffic - appears mirror-smooth in this early morning image. This vantage is very similar to my last Picture of the Day which, because of blogspot being down all day long yesterday, was posted back on Wednesday. The difference in framing for that shot is that I focused slightly further south along the fishing pier fronting the channel.
Today's picture is the first I've edited using Digital Photo Professional software from Canon, which allows for editing and asset management of Canon RAW files. I was very pleased with easily being able to adjust certain parameters - such as sharpness, saturation and noise reduction - without having to delve into the manual to figure it out.
In this image I increased the sharpness, reduced noise in both liminance and chrominance, and slightly increased the saturation, before opening the improved and converted photo with Photoshop CS and subsequently saving it as a TIFF file. For some reason, though, I was not able to save it as a JPEG, so I'l have to look into that in the future.
