5/14/11 - "Underground Parking - Daylight's Going #1"

"Underground Parking - Daylight's Going #1"

Over the last nearly two weeks I've photographed this scene four times, trying to capture that one elusive, perfect image. While I have some very good shots, both by day and by night, what I was lacking were some good twilight shots. Yesterday while at work I was able to set-up once again and, over the 40 minutes that I spent outside, capture 20 images that encompassed nearly all phases of the early Manhattan evening light.

These pictures were all taken from the north side of East 67th Street, and they are all basically the same shot - of the buildings, including this intriguing entrance to an underground parking lot directly opposite where I've been working steadily since early January, at Fox 5 TV in N.Y.

Today's photo represents the very earliest stage of twilight. Tomorrow's image will be more of a mid-to-late twilight vantage. And while I was initially thinking of making this a series of three pictures, I believe now that I'll extend it over four days, which will include one fully dark night shot and one full-on daytime photo. Two of these images - today's and tomorrow's - are from yesterday; and I believe tomorrow's picture to be "the money shot" - the best of the bunch, the one that made me say "OOO!"
