"Folk Bait"
When I photographed this image, a week and a half ago - while lying prostrate on the lawn of the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, NY - I hadn't noticed the resemblance to a fish's gaping mouth that I now recognize in this photo. I took only three shots of this felled section of tree trunk; and just this one frame, where there were these two people judiciously and momentarily situated; but it's definitely "A Keeper."
So Saturday night was my second Opening Reception of a juried exhibition. This one was at Mill Street Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY. I was fortunate enough to have two of the five images I submitted accepted into this show, which featured mainly paintings; and while one of the five awards given went to a photograph (of which, there were only about a dozen, tops, of 58 artworks selected) neither image of mine was honored thusly. In an exhibition such as this, though, I consider it to be an aesthetic achievement just to have my work represented. Or maybe that's just rationalization...
This series of images from Vanderbilt, which I had hoped Sally and I would have had time to re-visit while we were in the area, either Saturday or Sunday, will eventually consist of 10 to 12 photographs. I did manage to fit in four brief photo shoots yesterday, both before and after attending my cousin Debbie's first baby shower in White Lake, NY. Across from where the shower was being held is "the oldest summer hotel still standing in Sullivan County" which was erected in 1848. Here's a Google Maps street level view of how the hotel appears today:

Before posting any of those images however, I also have some shots from along the Hudson River to upload too - in addition to the remainder of the Vanderbilt Mansion series. So I've enough material on hand now to keep me busy for a couple of weeks, at least.
