"When Lilacs Last"
This is another of the 10 - 12 images that will appear as part of a series I shot at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, NY. I was up there nearly two weeks ago, as a result of a suggestion from Laurie Clark, who's the Assistant Director of Mill Street Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY.
I drove up to Mill Street to deliver two framed prints of mine, that were selected to be in their Our Towns Juried Art Exhibition. My two photos were among the approximately 12 photographs selected, while the remainder of the 58 artworks chosen were paintings. And while I did not receive any of the five awards given - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and two Honorable Mentions - I consider it a moral victory to have had two captures of mine be among the minority of photographs selected to appear along with the majority, which were all paintings.
As the next week or so passes, I'll be posting the rest of the images of this series. After that I've eight to ten pictures, of scenes from four different brief photo shoots I managed to fit in, both before and after attending a baby shower in White Lake, NY on Sunday, and returning home to Long Island that same night.
