"A Trophy Life"
I finished editing this image two days ago, and at first I wasn't even going to post it here. I couldn't think of an appropriate title, and it just seemed like a "waste shot" to me. But as I was finishing up my morning bath, in my four year old Jacuzzi tub, inspiration struck - as it often does either during or immediately after my daily, ritualistic soap and soak.
I do not understand the desire to have taxidermied animals mounted on walls, in the same way that I don't get the appeal of paying a lot of money (and undergoing much needless pain) to get tattoos inked on ones' person. To me, a body - whether it be human or otherwise - is a perfectly evolved creation, which needs no embellishment in life; and with its demise, deserves to be treated only with respect - not hung on a wall as testament to a mans' ability to kill an unarmed creature with a high-powered weapon from a safe distance. But that's just me.
I believe a trophy wife falls into a similar category: She's arm-candy for an older man, rich or famous enough to be able to attract a beautiful woman, to show off to all his less fortunate friends.
This will be the 14th and last post of this series, from Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, New York. With tomorrow's Picture of the Day, I'll start catching up with shots Ive been taking over the last couple of weeks.
