6/3/11 - "Vanderbilt - Southern Facade"

"Vanderbilt - Southern Facade"

"Vanderbilt - Southern Facade with Portico"

These two images are of the entry way and southern facade at Vanderbilt Mansion. This 'country palace' was built by Frederick W. Vanderbilt in 1898, on an existing 600 acre estate he purchased in 1895; an estate quoted by the New York Times as being "the finest place on the Hudson between New York and Albany."

Today's post is now the 13th in this series. I have one or to images upload for tomorrow, and then one final image as the 15th Picture of the Day from Vanderbilt, before moving on to something new. As a flashback, here's the very first image to appear from this series.
