     The Bath, New Hampshire covered bridge, looking out at the Ammonoosuc River. This river, which starts at Lakes of the Clouds, high on the western slopes of Mt. Washington (the hiking hut there, at 5,012 feet, is the highest of the AMC huts on the trail), eventually flows down into the Connecticut River and, finally, empties into Long Island Sound.
