Last Monday, the day after Hurricane Irene's visit to Long Island, we took a ride to Gilgo Beach. This park is only 5 miles from our home - as you can see on the Google Map linked to above - and we can even see a cell tower there from our back windows and deck. It was one of very few ocean beaches open that day and the weather was absolutely beautiful! It was as if the entire atmosphere had been cleansed by the storm. This image is another example of the aftermath from Irene.
