Under a man-made waterfall in mid-town Manhattan,
just west of Sixth Avenue,
just west of Sixth Avenue,
in a passageway between 48th and 49th Streets.
I took this photo on another short lunch-time stroll while working last week at NBC. There's a passage way and outdoor seating area mid-block on 49th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues, that connects with 48th Street. Walking south through this plaza is a wall, which has water falling over roughly textured bricks, on both the northern and southern facades. In the middle of this urban oddity is a circular tunnel, constructed entirely of glass, upon which the falling waters enter this mid-town water-scape.
This view is looking nearly straight up and to the north. What captured my attention was how the torrent rendered the surrounding buildings, blue sky and white clouds overhead; and, as if by metamorphosis, created an unusual artistic interpretation of the usual city skyline.
