11/13/10 - "Niagara Falls State Park - American Falls"

Niagara Falls State Park- American Falls
The view from Prospect Point

We went up to Dunkirk, NY  last Friday, as my daughter Caitlin and her boyfriend Josh were to be singing in "Blendstock" - a '60's themed A Cappella festival being held at SUNY Fredonia, where they're both long-term members of "Premium Blend". A total of six groups from Fredonia, Nazareth, SUNY New Paltz and RIT performed there on Saturday Night.

During the day, Sally and I took a ride up to Niagara Falls, as neither of us had been there before. We toured the American side of the Falls, as neither of us currently have passports, or enhanced NY State drivers licenses. This year is the 125th anniversary of Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the country!

Earlier this year, in late May, we took a trip south and drove parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is celebrating it's 75th anniversary. While at a rest stop on the parkway, I purchased a hat celebrating that anniversary. Somehow, somewhere, during our drive to Dunkirk and Fredonia, that hat disappeared. So during a visit to a gift shop at Niagara Falls State Park I purchased a replacement honoring its' anniversary. I guess I'm only allowed to have in my possession one anniversary hat at a time.

PS - I found the hat in my car, buried underneath a bag of NY State tourism brochures, about three weeks later.
