1/28/11 - "See No Evil. Hear No Evil. Eat No Evil?"

"See No Evil. Hear No Evil. Eat No Evil?"

Now before you take offense, this is not an editorial comment on Indian cuisine in general, nor about the quality of the fare at this establisment - which may or may not be a very fine restaurant: I wouldn't know, as I've never dined there. What caught my attention was the juxtaposition of this sculpture, just outside this restaurant in Manhattan. It seems unlikely to me that nobody thought of the potentially negative implications, brought about by the placement of this particular work of art in this exact spot. But stranger things have happened, I suppose - especially in New York City.

It's located in a passageway between 56th & 57th Streets, a short distance east of 6th Avenue. I came across this tableau while on a lunch-time stroll back in November, about a week after I received my new camera - a Canon EOS 5D. I was anxious to put it to use, and practice what I was learning of it's features and capabilities. I've had a smaller but slightly different version of this image at the bottom of my blog for about two months, and I felt that it deserved a posting as Picture of the Day.

This is a Google Maps street level view of the passageway; but, unfortunately, when this picture was taken a large truck was blocking most of the entryway. There are other sculptures in here as well, but none were as photogenic as the one I photographed.
