1/17/11 - "Industrial-Strength Ventilation"

"Industrial-Strength Ventilation"

The last working fan, of the four inside this ventilation room, near the Fox 5 TV 5th floor studio - home to Good Day New York and the 5, 6 and 10 pm newscasts.

This studio is in the building which formerly housed Jacob Rupert's Central Opera House; and is the fourth-oldest, continuously broadcasting commercial station in the United States - and was one of the few stations that continued broadcasting during World War II!

Some of the memorable shows that originated here are Romper Room, The Sandy Becker Show, The Sonny Fox Show, Wonderama, and The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon - which is still going strong, despite no longer airing from this historic space.

Now, for a real disparate change of pace, here's a follow-up photo to a previously posted image called "The Return of EA98"

"EA98's Mate"

A photo of the male Mute Swan who's the mate to EA98, the banded female who I re-photographed recently, for the first time in nearly a year. They'd been absent for quite a while, and I was concerned that she might not still be alive. Alas, she and he are both still alive, and they're doing just fine.
