"996 Crooked Lead - No. 2" Fine Art prints.
Today's photograph is another in a series I shot of this bayhouse back in November of 2009. This view is from the dock in its "front yard" - as the only way to get to these homes is by boat. Only about 30 of these bay shacks remain, where once there were more than 300! The rest have fallen victim to hurricanes, flooding, vandalism, arson and neglect.
The photo I posted yesterday as Picture of the Day also has a black and white version, which I'll include here now:

I didn't think to include it yesterday, as I was editing and re-writing my first-ever Artist's Statement, which is also posted now here on my blog page. If you do read it, I'd love to hear any feedback you may have. The impetus to undertake that chore was a juried photography show that I'm entering, which is being conducted in Huntington, NY - which is way closer than Fairfield, Iowa (where my first-ever gallery showing occurred earlier this month).
I'm going to be submitting 10 images, in hopes of getting at least one or two selected for judging and inclusion in the gallery display. It's a small space, and they only have room for 34 pictures, so I'll be satisfied even if only one is chosen. If I am so lucky, there will be an opening reception on Friday, April 29th. The "Best in Show" and honorable mention selections will then be part of the "Masters Show" in June.
At this point I haven't finished whittling done my entries to 10 yet. I started with about 50 of my best images (they can't be more than four years old) and I've currently got it down to 18. The deadline is this Friday, April 1st, so I still have enough time to finish the process.
