4/3/11 - "Lakeside Branches 2 B+W"

For the first time in almost a month, I had a chance yesterday - my weekly, one day off - to get out for a while and visit some nearby woods. The destination was Massapequa Lake, which is the next town to the east of Seaford, where Sally and I currently reside.  It was one of the nicest days we've had in a while, as it's been cold - often with rain and wet snow - since we had a taste of spring one Friday, a couple of weeks ago. Alas, I was working that day, so I didn't really get to appreciate it. The following image was cropped from a larger, full-color view, which I enclose here for comparison:

I've increased the saturation somewhat on this picture, as I feel it more closely replicates how Kodachrome would have represented this capture. If you've ever used Kodachrome - and loved it, as I had - you should find the New York Times article linked to in the previous sentence of interest. I did, and it makes me glad that I have had the opportunity to have shot with it, over the last 33 years. Some day I'll start scanning all of my old slides (and color negatives also - which will probably become dinosaurs themselves, in the not-too-distant future). But that will most likely not occur until I can retire. In the meantime, for certain pictures I will try my best to recreate in my 'digital darkroom'  the magic that Kodachrome once held.
