"Lakeside Birch B&W" Art prints.
The lake would be Massapequa Lake, on the South Shore of Nassau County in New York. The birch, I believe, is a silver birch - although I'm not 100% positive about that.
This image was desaturated and cropped from a full-color, horizontal photo of the same tree, with more of the lake included in the view. There is a part of the small island in the the center of the lake in these pictures, on the right side of the frame, which is known as Mary's Island.
This man-made lake, part of the largest freshwater wetland system of all Nassau County parks, was created in the 1830's by David S. Jones, a member of Massapequa's founding family. In addition to five other lakes and ponds, this park also contains five-mile sections of both the Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail and the Bethpage State Park - Massapequa Preserve Bike Path.
Having lived most of my life within a two-mile radius of the Massapequa portion of this parkland, I've spent quite a lot ot time exploring these woods - both on foot and by bike. I have also taken many pictures there over the years. But with my new digital SLR - and my first-ever quality tripod - I look forward to re-visiting it more than I have been able to for the last few years.
